Last weekend I had the opportunity to get out of the Chicago office and volunteer alongside Greenheart Club members, in the neighboring city to the north, Milwaukee! The group of exchange students in Milwaukee are some of the Greenheart Club’s most active volunteers and I was excited to meet them. Their amazing local coordinator, Annie organized the Greenheart project for them all.
We carpooled together to Saukville, Wisconsin to spend the afternoon volunteering for the River’s Edge Nature Center’s Winter Celebration. The nature center organized a day filled with winter activities for families to enjoy. Activities included, ice fishing, ice croquet, spotting animal tracks, and winter crafts. This volunteer activity was lots of fun; we got to participate in all the activities we volunteered with.
I had a blast helping at the event and getting to know Aygerim from Kazakhstan, Joao from Brazil, Injien from Nigeria, Laura from Germany, Chaewon from South Korea, and Mimi an American host sister!
